      <title><![CDATA[Family Health Forum]]></title>

      <description><![CDATA[What is it? The Family Health Forum is an initiative designed to engage families of those with intellectual disabilities (ID) who are either in, or are interested in, becoming involved with Special Olympics. The goal is to offer an environment where parents and caregivers can gain direct access to health information, resources and support.

The forum is free and is made possible by a grant
from the Lions Club Internaonal.

Who Can Attend?
The forum is designed for individuals of all ages with ID as well as their parents, guardians, and siblings.

Limited spaces are available and will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
The first session of the day will be relevant to the entire group while the a6ernoon sessions will
specifically target parents, guardians, and
individuals with ID. Siblings are encouraged to
participate in the open gym and craft activities in the morning and the Sibshop in the a6ernoon.

Mission Statement: Our mission for this camp is to bring people together with the same passion, football, and at the same time fill the day with many memories and smiles.

This football camp is being hosted by the KHS students, faculty and members of the KHS football team.

WHEN: May 19th, 2012 at 1pm – 3pm

      <title><![CDATA[Wisconsin Adventures on Wheels]]></title>

      <description><![CDATA[The Wisconsin Wheelchair Sports Association (WWSA) and Rock Creek Disabled Outdoors
(RCDO) are working together to offer “Wisconsin Adventures on Wheels” (WAW), a three season
outdoor experience for disabled urban kids aged 11-19. We have a combined Fall, Spring, and
Summer Camp Program in Willard, Wisconsin, for 6 physically disabled teens and their guardians.

All of the equipment for the outdoor activities will be supplied. There will be many optional activities,including fishing, kayaking, archery lessons, hunting instruction, and field trips. There is a large picnic building at the resort with a wheelchair accessible bathroom in case of inclement weather. The day camp also has a large open room for campers to complete activities in case of rain or cold weather. Volunteers are on hand to help with instruction and to assist with any mobility issues.

Program dates are September 23-25 2011, and May 18-20, 2012. The program includes lodging on
Friday and Saturday night at Sunset Pines Resort, Day Camp activities with breakfast and lunch
Saturday on the wooded parcel 4 miles from the resort, food at Dale’s North Mound Tavern on Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday morning. We will have activities at the day camp and the resort on Sunday. We have an accessible day camp building with restroom facilities to use during the camp. The teens will work with volunteers to learn about flora and fauna in the area, work on habitat improvement projects for birds, deer, and turkeys, and try recreational activities including boating, fishing and bird watching. We will offer an optional hunting course for interested teens.]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[Bodies, Boundaries and Sexuality:
Understanding Sexuality in People with Developmental Disabilities

This workshop is designed to help parents and professionals become more comfortable and confident addressing sexuality issues that commonly surface among individuals with
developmental disabilities. Participants will explore the concept of healthy sexuality and
understand how to help a child with a developmental disability become sexually healthy
adults. Practical teaching strategies, resources and ideas for teaching a variety of sexuality concepts at home, school or the community will be shared.

Objectives
• Compare and contrast sexual learning in the general population with patterns of learning
among individuals with developmental disabilities. (Why do we need to teach?)
• Identify typical stages of sexual development in childhood and adolescence. (In other
words, “What’s normal?”)
• Describe key roles parents and professionals play in supporting healthy sexual development.
• Describe teaching strategies that enhance learning. (How do you teach?)
• Describe 5 foundational concepts that support healthy sexuality. (What do you teach?)
• Identify models for thinking about and handling sexuality issues.
• Identify ways sexuality education helps promote safety and prevent exploitation.
• Identify useful resources for teaching sexuality education to individuals with
developmental disabilities.

Who should attend
This conference is designed for parents, guardians, educators and other professionals who support individuals with developmental disabilities. This conference is NOT designed for self-advocates.
